Description
The latest--but certainly not the last--chapter of the Mark McGwire saga returned to hit us upside the head in January when the former steroid-stuffed slugger decided he wanted to work again for the Cardinals and Tony La Russa. I guess a decade of spending more time with the family was sufficient punishment, and he can echo Willie Nelson and be "on the road again." Frankly, I was surprised that the Cardinals and Bill (DeWallet) DeWitt signed McGwire as batting coach. Perhaps that was the price necessary to sign the manager for a few more years, or perhaps Ari Fleischer suggested it as part of his high-priced advice.
